| The SAR has registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office its cross design badge as a service mark bearing registration No. 2,367,894. The registration date is July 18, 2000. This action was taken to protect them from being used without permission by organizations, vendors (such as merchants selling items with an SAR logo), or others. State societies, chapters, and individuals must use the various SAR logos carefully so that we can maintain this protection. Discussion of SAR policy regarding use of the logos with the registration symbol and links to allow downloading the five different logo designs containing the registration symbol (for use in newsletters, etc.) have been posted at: http://www.sar.org/gifs/sarlogos.htm There is a link to this page in the newsletter section of the "Helpful Notes" page, which is linked off the SAR national home page site.
